So, you’ve completed the Conga Maturity Model framework and survey. You’re probably thinking—where do I go from here? The results are just the beginning. Now that you have a clearer view of your organization’s current growth journey, it’s essential to interpret, plan, and share this information with key stakeholders. Below, we’ll break down the next steps to ensure you maximize the impact of your maturity model assessment.

Review your results with a strategic lens
Once you've received your maturity model results, it’s important to understand what each segment means for your organization.

  • Assess current position: Identify what maturity stage your organization falls into and contrast it with your organization’s stated goals. Remember, you don’t have to strive for the highest stage, your goal should be to mature your program in alignment with business priorities.

  • Identify priorities: Speaking of priorities, examine which category stood out as a top priority, there is no need to try and close all gaps between the desired and current state—it's best to focus on the top priority and/or the one that will make the biggest difference for the business.

  • Set goals: Use these results to set short-term goals for immediate impact and longer-term goals contributing to sustained growth.

To see how another organization did the above, you can catch this December 11th user group special event replay to learn how World Wide Technology (WWT) used its maturity survey findings to define a strategic roadmap with stakeholder buy-in.

Create an action plan
Armed with a better understanding of your results, the next step is formulating a concrete action plan. As you may have learned during our latest user group special event, Conga customer WWT organized a strategic workshop to showcase its latest results and plan its roadmap for future growth.

  • Develop actionable next steps: Draft clear objectives for each focus area (i.e., if the maturity results identify a need for a better workflow, your next step might include researching Conga Composer automation features. For guidance on where to focus, explore these Maturity Model Journey maps).

  • Track and report progress: Set up KPIs to measure the effectiveness of each action item. Implementing metrics such as engagement, cost efficiency, and productivity can help determine if your action plan aligns with your desired outcome.

  • Allocate resources and budget: Ensure you have the resources needed to support each step. Solidify a budget that covers necessary investments, such as software or consulting services or training sessions for team members to elevate their skill sets.

“This framework allowed business units within World Wide Technology to benchmark its current state, and it brought alignment to maturity goals that were timeframe agnostic,” Lydia Steinkoetter, Product Owner at WWT, explained. “It really helped serve as a guide to ground us in the steps in our process and put into perspective all the areas that we can improve.”

Present your findings to key stakeholders
Effectively presenting your findings and action plan to leadership and stakeholders is crucial for securing the right support and resources. It’s your time to shine, so make your presentation as detailed as possible.

  • Tailor your presentation: Tailor the depth of your insights to match your audience’s interests. Leadership may prefer high-level insights related to ROI and long-term strategy, while smaller business units might want more detail on implementation.

  • Highlight strategic wins: Showcase specific wins anticipated from the plan, such as faster customer response times, improved technology integration, or projected cost savings. Showing the potential value generated from the results will bolster stakeholder buy-in.

  • Create a roadmap: Draft a roadmap that includes a detailed timeline for each step, including quarterly goals and projected achievements. This roadmap provides a visual guide to keep all stakeholders aligned on the path forward.

  • Set up feedback loop: Encourage stakeholders to provide feedback on the initial roadmap and adjust where necessary. Establishing an open communication line helps keep everyone engaged and opens the door for additional resources if needed.

Examples of quick wins
The biggest benefit of assessing where your organization lands is that it helps you narrowly focus on the areas that can yield big results for you, the teams you support, and your organization. If you want some inspiration from where we’ve seen customers find light lifts and big rewards, consider these action plans that were developed from the maturity survey results:

  • Contract Initiation and Contract Versioning that could be identified as an "easy win"
  • As you may have seen from the previously referenced user group event, WWT’s first focus was to invest in and implement AI
  • Another quick win is to activate the Conga Advantage Platform

Summary
Now that you have a valuable snapshot of your organization’s current standing, carefully review your results, formulate a strategic action plan, and present your strategy. Taking these steps positions your organization for success, moving you closer to your long-term goals and preparing you for future growth.
