This success story highlights one of Conga’s financial services customers who is new to Conga Composer. Despite being a small team, the Finance and Legal departments play a crucial role in helping clients plan their retirement with financial review packets.

Without prior knowledge of Composer, one user took over as Salesforce Admin and began navigating the Conga Customer Community for help. They posted their challenges in the Composer user group, seeking advice on optimizing their templates and expanding their Composer usage.

Their financial review forms were cluttered with errors and redundant information, overwhelming clients. As a result of these challenges, the team manually downloaded each form into Microsoft Word, removed the repetitive content, pulled data from Salesforce, and transferred numbers from Excel—an unsustainable and error-prone process.

After connecting with Conga, they later learned that the redundancy was due to too many merge fields.

The primary use case: simplify merge fields, consolidate information, and reduce clutter on the template, resulting in a clean, easily digestible financial review format for customers.

After posting their question in the Composer user group, Conga Customer Success Engineer Luke Gaffney reached out directly. The user explained their novice experience with Composer, and Luke quickly offered training to boost their familiarity. Luke helped them consolidate and remove unnecessary merge tags, reducing the financial review form's length and complexity. He also demonstrated the template builder and how to refine merge tags.

“Really appreciate all the help. Trying to get the best end product for our client while only being a small business with no IT guy,” the customer shared.

Luke further empowered the customer by introducing additional resources, including Conga’s Documentation Portal, Learning Center, and System Status.

Now, the Finance and Legal teams use the free courses and the Documentation Portal to leverage Composer’s full functionality. They no longer need to manually build each template—just a click in Salesforce formulates and launches the financial review form.

Key use case results:

  • Reduced financial review form length from 20 pages to 3–5 pages
  • Decreased manual processes
  • Streamlined software usage to rely solely on Composer
  • Accelerated learning through self-service resources
  • Minimized human error and confusing language

A team member added, “Our users love it because they get to just go click rather than spend 45 minutes or an hour hunting down all the information.”

The Finance and Legal teams know they can contact Conga anytime and plan to join the Conga Composer user group meetups for further training.
