You’ve got to start somewhere! Typically, we all wish we knew what we know now when we first begin a new software product journey, whether it is learning a new skill or gauging our comfort in adoption.
We asked our Conga Composer user group members to think back to when they first started using the solution and to tell us what they wish they knew then that they know now. And let me tell you, we received some great responses!
1. Training is key
We’ve heard time and time again about the importance of training (and the confidence it gives you!) when embarking on a software voyage. The Conga Learning Center is a great place to get your feet wet by viewing free high-level training courses. But everyone consumes training content differently, and why we offer multiple ways for you to learn—by reading, watching, or doing.
“The last year has been a lot of trial and error and learning from YouTube. I learn best by watching and doing.” - Conga Composer customer in the software development industry.
Watching training videos appeared to be the theme with our Composer users. Conga hosts free expert-led webinars (hello product user group virtual meetups!) that you can easily register for via the interactive calendar. We also have a YouTube channel filled with video shorts about Composer that are easily accessible via the Conga Customer Community. As always, if you have no idea where to start, you can review our Onboarding Resources that guide you step-by-step and saves your journey.
2. Find your community
Composer users shared that it was extremely impactful to have someone to talk to, such as a peer in the industry, who understands what they are going through and can provide answers. All roads lead to the Conga Customer Community—and that’s where you’ll find your community of Composer users! Our Composer User Group is filled with like-minded experts ready to answer your questions and offer tips on specific use cases. You can also work directly with and gain easy access to our DocGen experts via the Composer User Group.
3. Learn the fundamentals
Users wanted to feel confident with how each Composer feature and functionality contributes to their desired use cases.
“[I wish I knew more about the] framework that Composer is built on. For example, the template, query builder, building of solutions, testing, etc. A visual to see how it all ties in together.” - Conga Composer customer in the technology industry.
Our team has been hard at work developing the right content to help you understand everything there is to know about Composer, especially regarding queries, templates, parameters, and more.

4. Keep exploring use cases
Use cases are one of the best ways to see how others use Composer in a specific environment. References are key, and when you have someone who’s “been through this before,” it not only eases your mind, but inspires your focus. That’s why we curated use cases for you to explore within the Composer user groups to establish success scenarios, failure scenarios, and any important variants or exceptions. You’ll also often see customers sharing their use cases on the monthly Composer user group meetups!
5. Lean on support
Our survey confirmed that Conga has the resources to help! We have a bevy of content that’s critical to your success within the Conga Customer Community, including our global search of knowledge base articles and product documentation portal, but we also have one of the best support teams in the business—just read what one Composer user had to say:
“Conga has the best support staff I've encountered anywhere in my personal or professional use cases. I normally hate reaching out to support agents nowadays because it takes longer to explain an issue than it does to figure it out myself. With Conga, I don't hesitate to reach out with issues because your software is well-documented and well-supported.” - Conga Composer Customer in the automation machinery manufacturing industry.
If that doesn’t convince you, join the Composer User Group, where you’ll find direct access to our DocGen Team and gain the ability to schedule a meeting.
If you are a Conga Composer beginner and don’t know where to start, we hope you found it helpful to hear from your industry peers. Remember, all roads lead to the Conga Customer Community, so navigate the site or join the Composer User Group today to kickstart your journey to becoming a Composer guru!
